Gantry-type machining center MCG 2318 is a representative of range of multipurpose machining centres which are thanks to their parameters predetermined not only for machining spatially and shape complicated parts in classical engineering fields, but also in automotive, plastics and molding industries.

Robust construction of the machine frame guarantees high rigidity during the heavy duty machining, high dynamic stability by high cut speeds, minimum impact on center geometry in travel positions and good heat stability in different work conditions. High spindle torque ensures machining of moderately strong iron parts using modern tools. Tool manipulation is solved directly by ATC / manipulator interaction. Due to the possibility of 6-axes machining with the parallel option of turning, this machine would find its place also in demanding fields of energetics and aviation.

Machine functions are controlled by CNC systems SIEMENS or HEIDENHAIN. Machine in standard execution is equipped with HSK-A100 spindle unit, chip conveyor, center-spindle air supply, fully covered working zone, ATC, vibration diagnostics, external tool cooling.

The machine can be equipped with remote diagnostics, which helps with communication with customer in diagnosing and restoring most failures of the machine.

Machine construction comprises portal overhead type gantry, which frame consist of two sides, solid connected with base.
On the top of the sides in the longitudinal direction moves the binder (axis X).
On the binder in the transverse direction moves cross slide (axis Y).
Ram moves vertically (axis Z).
Ram is mounted by tilting head, which is capable of swing moving (axis B) around horizontal axis.
Platform of rotary table can be turned around its vertical axis (axis C).

All the guidances X, Y, Z consist of linear guides with rolling parts. Their dimension and placement provides not just high workload of all moving parts with keeping high precision of dimensions and quality of surface of workpiece even in case of interrupted cutting, but provides also long lifetime of the machine.
Moves of the binder, cross side and slide ram are provided by AC regulative engines with digital guidance through rotating ball screws with ball nuts.
Measuring of position in axes X, Y, Z is direct, by either incremental or absolute linear measuring units.
Mounting plate is placed at the base of the machine to cross rolling bearing with preload. This store provides long lasting stiffness and running accuracy.
