Radial drilling machines VR – overview and product range

Radial drilling machines VR 50, VR 63, VR 80, VR 100 and VR 132 are industrial radial drilling machines VR designed for drilling, tapping, counterboring and spot facing of large and heavy workpieces. These machines are intended for demanding operation in job-shop and small-batch production, especially in toolrooms, heavy engineering and steel fabrication.

Production of radial drilling machines VR is ongoing, and all models are supplied as new machines, including complete technical documentation, transportation, installation and full service support.

Design and technical concept of radial drilling machines VR

Radial drilling machines VR are based on a proven classical radial drill design, which has been further developed to meet modern production and safety requirements. The core of the machine consists of a massive cast-iron structure, providing high rigidity, stability and machining accuracy.

Compared to older designs, radial drilling machines VR are equipped with:

  • a reliable mechanical system for spindle speed and feed selection,
  • a gearbox with 16 speed steps,
  • high torque for heavy-duty drilling and tapping operations,
  • hydraulic clamping of column, arm and spindle head,
  • automatic lubrication of guideways.

These features ensure stable performance even under continuous heavy load.

Machine designation and VR model range

Machine designation: VR XX, where XX indicates the maximum drilling diameter in steel.

Available radial drilling machine models:

  • VR 50 – drilling up to Ø 50 mm, tapping up to M 30 / M 40
  • VR 63 – drilling up to Ø 63 mm, tapping up to M 40 / M 50
  • VR 80 – drilling up to Ø 80 mm, tapping up to M 50 / M 60
  • VR 100 – drilling up to Ø 100 mm, tapping for large structural components
  • VR 132 – drilling up to Ø 132 mm for very large and heavy workpieces

Applications and performance

The VR 50 model is the most widely used solution and represents an optimal balance between performance, size and investment cost. It is suitable for the majority of toolrooms and general manufacturing operations.

Models VR 63 and VR 80 are intended for higher performance requirements, while VR 100 and VR 132 are designed for heavy-duty applications, large drilling diameters and machining of massive workpieces.

Thanks to the mechanical gearbox, radial drilling machines VR provide high torque without the need for a frequency inverter, making them ideal for force-intensive operations.

Installation and operating conditions

Radial drilling machines VR are designed for standard industrial environments. Installation is carried out on a prepared concrete foundation, and anchoring of the machine is recommended.

Due to the rotating arm design, a minimum safety clearance of 800 mm from surrounding obstacles must be maintained.

Transportation, unloading and assistance during machine positioning are included in the delivery.
