CNC BHCR Grinder – Universal Cylindrical Grinding Machine with Automatic B Axis

The CNC BHCR grinder is a fully CNC‑controlled universal cylindrical grinding machine designed for high‑precision grinding of external cylindrical and taper surfaces, face surfaces, radii and geometrically demanding transition areas. The machine is engineered to deliver maximum flexibility, high productivity and long‑term process stability, making it suitable for single‑piece, small‑batch and demanding series production.

The BHCR grinding machine is equipped with four CNC‑controlled axes. Axis X provides precise infeed of the grinding wheel head, axis Z controls the longitudinal movement of the workpiece table, axis C enables control of the grinding wheel peripheral speed, and most importantly, the machine features an automatically controlled B axis. The B axis allows swivelling of the grinding wheel head and the installation of up to three grinding units. This configuration considerably expands the technological capabilities of the machine and enables multiple grinding operations to be performed in a single clamping, significantly reducing setup times and increasing process repeatability.

The CNC BHCR grinder supports a wide range of grinding operations, including longitudinal grinding with moving table, plunge grinding with fixed or oscillating table, and combined plunge and longitudinal grinding cycles, including subsequent finishing passes. The machine enables grinding of external cylindrical and taper surfaces between centres, as well as grinding in dedicated fixturing systems. More complex geometries can be machined using linear and circular interpolation, which is especially advantageous for precise radii, shoulders and contoured surfaces.

An integral part of the BHCR concept is automatic wheel dressing using a CNC‑controlled dressing system combined with automatic wear compensation via the CNC control. This ensures consistent dimensional accuracy and surface quality over extended production periods, while minimizing operator intervention and downtime.

The BHCR grinder can be optionally equipped with internal grinding units, allowing internal diameters to be machined on the same machine, as well as with a superfinishing device for achieving extremely low surface roughness values. Thanks to its modular design, the machine can be configured and adapted to specific customer requirements and individual technological applications.
