Vertical turning lathe BASICTURN – stable machining solution
The BASICTURN vertical turning lathe is a proven machine developed by TOSHULIN a.s., built on decades of experience in advanced machine tool engineering. It is designed for precision machining of large workpieces with turning diameters ranging from 1,250 to 4,000 mm, even in demanding industrial applications.
Its rigid and highly stable structure ensures excellent machining accuracy, long‑term reliability, and consistent performance in heavy-duty production environments.
Vertical turning lathe BASICTURN – machining technologies
The machine is primarily designed for turning operations, but can also be equipped to perform additional chip‑removal processes such as milling, drilling, and grinding. This versatility allows it to function as a complete machining solution, enabling efficient part finishing in a single setup.
BASICTURN vertical turning lathe – NC axes
In the standard configuration, the machine operates with two NC-controlled axes:
- X-axis – horizontal cross travel of the slide
- Z-axis – vertical travel of the ram support
For more advanced applications, an optional C-axis can be integrated. This feature enables precise positioning and controlled rotation of the table, supporting more complex machining tasks.
Extended functionality with rotary tools
The machine can be equipped with a rotary tool drive, enabling:
- drilling outside the table rotation axis
- tapping operations beyond the central axis
- milling of complex shapes perpendicular to the table surface
- grinding operations depending on configuration
A fixed angular head allows standard drilling and milling operations, while an adjustable angular head enables machining at various angles (within defined limits). The angular head is not compatible with automatic tool change.
BASICTURN vertical turning lathe – control system
The machine is available with Siemens or Fanuc control systems, depending on customer requirements.
Remote diagnostics can be integrated as an optional feature, allowing fast communication and efficient troubleshooting. This solution significantly reduces downtime and enables quicker fault identification.
Machine design and operation
The design focuses on long-term accuracy, reliability, and ease of operation. The rigid frame ensures high stability, while the overall concept emphasizes user-friendly operation and simplified maintenance.
